Raipur: A 22-year-old rape survivor turned to the police for help after the village panchayat failed to serve justice to her. Around 1 month ago, the woman was allegedly abducted and raped in her village. The woman sought action against the accused from the village panchayat but the accused refused to follow its order.

The survivor is a resident of a village located in the Korba district of Chhattisgarh. The woman, who has been married for the last eight years was allegedly raped and confined in May this year. The woman's husband is mentally unstable.

On May 19, the woman went out of her home to relieve herself. During this time, a man identified as Bhaiyalal and his friend Hardayal Porte pounced on her. The accused allegedly covered the woman's mouth and took her to a nearby forest.

Accused raped woman in forest

Bhaiyalal allegedly raped the woman in the forest before taking her to the main road located a few metres away. The accused's friend Shivshankar Markam was waiting for them on his two-wheeler.

Bhaiyalal and Markham forced the woman to sit on the latter's motorbike and took her to a vacant home in Karichhapar. The home belongs to Bhaiyalal, The Times of India reported.

Bhaiyalal raped the woman repeatedly for two days and confined her inside the house. The accused also threatened the woman and warned her against informing the police about the incident. On May 22, the woman caught hold of Bhaiyalal's mobile phone when he was away and called her father.

The woman contacted her father as her husband is not mentally stable. After being informed, the 22-year-old woman's father and brother reached the house and rescued the woman. The family then contacted the panchayat in hope of justice.
