Michael Hussey gave his verdict on the fate of this year's T20 World Cup

The ICC is expected to take a final call regarding this year's edition sooner than later

Former Australia batsman Michael Hussey has given his verdict on this year's T20 World Cup, which is slated to be held in Australia later this year from October-November. With the spread of the COVID-19 infection, the situation is still being monitored by the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the fate of this year's edition.

While there is a strong belief that this year's T20 World Cup will be postponed and shifted to 2022, with India already hosting the next edition in 2021, Hussey gave his take in this regard. The former left-hander, who was known to be as Mr. Cricket during his active days, stated, "I am really fearful about the T20 World Cup, to be honest, and the reason for that is I think it is okay to bring out one team to play international cricket and get them to isolate and stay safe and prepare well for a series.

He further opined, "But having to bring a number of teams and getting them to isolate to prepare and then move around the country to different venues I think that will be a logistical nightmare. From what we are hearing perhaps the T20 World Cup will have to be postponed for 2021 or even 2022," pointed out the 45-year-old.
